Despite snow conditions of yesterday's weather.... we made it safely up to SLC. Today was to be Erik's swallow study appointment and stitches removal... but early yesterday morning we noticed drainage coming from the incision on Erik's neck and checked in with the on call E.N.T up at Huntsman. It was recommended that we leave earlier than planned to travel up and stop in at the clinic and get checked before heading over to our hotel. Well, only part of the family made We it to the hotel (niece's wedding festivities on Thurs and Fri). Erik was immediately admitted and is being treated for an infection. He had quite the eventful evening with learning that he is allergic to one of the antibiotics. Really frightening. The staff up here are quick and took care of the situation promptly and got Erik back to feeling better. Erik will get to stay here in the hospital until the weekend...they think. As with everything medical... all things are based on an average and it is simply "take one day at a time". :)
We had a wonderful Christmas. It was fun hearing from Tim and Brooke about little Camden. They had a "Delta Christmas" with Tim's family. Chris and Allie came out for both Christmas eve and the next day on Christmas. It was fun to see the kids get out the WII remotes and play Mario cart. Like old times.... now they're just older. We played a few games, watched a few movies and simply enjoyed being with one another. Ashley was with us, too, on Christmas eve and most of Christmas day, then headed down to spend some time with her fiancé in St. George. Christmas was pretty much chill. And that's what we all needed was some R and R.
