Home for the Holidays....

It's nice for Erik to be home.  He's doing good.  His trachea wound area is closing up and he is able to talk a little more.  His tongue and inside of his mouth are still quite swollen.

Erik is a champ eater.  Good thing for feeding tubes since his throat is still healing.  It's good for him to get great nutrition and lots of protein to fuel his body to aid in the healing.

The pathology reports show... that they didn't quite get clean margins.  It's so hard to tell when you're in their because its bone.  It just takes longer to check all the cells out.  So Erik is scheduled to go in again the first week of January.  We are still learning the details and don't know all the answers yet.  What we do know is that this will be a much easier surgery than the last.  Phew!  We also know that with our faith and trust in the Lord, all will go according to his will.  We are so grateful for the knowledge of the doctors we have and that found out this fast.  It sometimes takes a couple of weeks to get results back for bone and we got this back within six days.  We are also grateful for this holiday season in which we get to be home and spend Christmas together.  Our Savior's love is what carries us through.  It's a great thing to celebrate.  Heavenly Father knows each one of us and knows what our needs are.  We are grateful for that :)

Thanks for all the prayers and kind messages and texts and emails.  It means a lot to us!

Erik is appreciative, too.  He is ok with visitors... he needs rest off and on throughout the day, but short visits are just fine.  It lifts his spirits.  He is also great with messages on his phone or facebook too.  There has been an over abundance outpouring of love.  That's what life is all about.  People helping each other as if the Savior were here to do it himself.  And when we are through with this trial... we will be ready to pay it forward.
