11th Roadtrip
Haha... so ya, we were counting how many times we have gone up to SLC to the Huntsman Cancer Clinic/Hospital. That's quite a few. Erik is so very worth it! We've had many talks and bonding moments during our journeys.
Yesterday (Tuesday) we had a chance to ask all the questions we wanted with both teams of doctors, the cancer surgeon and the reconstruction surgeon. We absorbed a lot of information like a sponge, too. Our bodies are amazing. And it's amazing at what experienced and knowledgeable cancer physicians can do. We are so glad we have health insurance. Erik's surgery will be on the 13th. They will start early in the morning and continue throughout the day. It will be a long day for Dennis and I, but not for Erik... he will be asleep! Thank heavens! The plan is to take out the cancer infected bone in his jaw and replace it with some bone from his leg, namely his fibula. It's amazing that they can reconstruct his jaw this way. They won't make a new incision... they'll just go access everything through his previous incision. So that's another good thing. He will in the hospital for about 7-10 days. They are thinking 7 days because Erik is so healthy and young and has taken care of himself.
We thank everyone for their continued prayers and their fasting on behalf of Erik and our entire family. We feel so blessed to have such wonderful friends and family.
Our house is alive with Christmas decorations and the aroma of pine....mmmmmm.... we cut a fresh Christmas Tree last Saturday. It's quite unique. Erik picked it out. He did a great job. It's nice and full because part way up the trunk is another branch that grew heavenward, so it's like two trees. Christmas music is quite fun. I have discovered the "Christmas Oldies" on AOL (online radio). I love the good ole fashioned Christmas songs.
