Day 1, Let the Healing Begin

Erik is doing good.  He is a bit swollen and is able to communicate via pen and paper.  His first words were "what day is it?"  He also said.. "I'm good."  He also mentioned his butt hurts.  Of course it prob does because of laying on it all yesterday during the long surgery.  He's a trooper.  He is in acute care/step down.  Meaning, the care given between ICU and a regular patient room.  Erik is projected to be here for a couple of days, then they will move him to another room.  He is sleeping a lot but is aware and alert enough to communicate at times.  We love him.  He's such a strong fighter!
