We took a quick trip up to SLC to see Dr. Bentz for Erik's followup appt. The doctor was pleased at how Erik is doing and was pleased with how the surgery went. The pathology report showed another spot of cancer that was on the cartilage area that they removed. The surrounding areas tested clean and clear. So they were able to conclude that they got deep clean margins.
They also took out his 51 stitches. The nurse started working on Erik while Dr. Bentz chatted with us. But then this other doctor... Dr. Bentz' assistant (a micro surgeon specialist) was the one that wanted to do take the stitches out. He was cute about saying that it was his project and he would finish what he started a week ago. He is a specialist for facial surgeries and does a great job. He was the one that closed Erik up and revised his old scar after Dr. Bentz took care of his thing. That was a long 5 hour surgery. But that's ok.... glad they took their time taking good care of Erik.
Our next step is for Erik to be seen every 6 weeks rotating between Dr. Gardner in St. George and Dr. Bentz up at Huntsman in SLC. Both are ENT surgeon specialists. (Ear Nose Throat)
Erik is doing great.... he is missing school and all his socializing. He doesn't care much about the work... just the social part. haha No, really, he is keeping up in his classes. It is good for him to do his studies because he is getting bored. There is only so much of Disney channel and movies to watch and playing the Nintendo DS. He has had an overwhelming support group of friends come and say hi and visit.... the track team... neighbors bringing treats and stuff. It has helped boost Erik.
Ashley has been around since it's SUU spring break. It makes it a little bit more lively around here. Allie is getting ready to be done with schooling. She's working on her SUU Grad announcements and job hunting. Chris is doing well in school, too. Chris is an assistant track coach at Cedar High and loving it. Ashley is most likely red-shirting the outdoor track season. She did well with indoor... and is ready for a break. She can still run at meets "unattached". She won't travel with the team, but can drive to the ones nearby and definitely the SUU home meets. Brooke is busy~busy with tax season. I get to watch little Camden a few more hours a week than usual. It's been good to have Camden around anyway because of Erik. Erik loves playing with him and it helps Erik's days to be more exciting. Tim and Dennis are plugging along with Precision. Doing great. We are so blessed to have work. And Chris works part time with them, too. Justin wishes that the soccer team he's signed up on for the spring is really a football team. He had so much fun last fall with it. It's almost his birthday... then he'll be an official teenager. Ikes!.... haha He's a good kid.
