April Fools and Easter Eggs

Poor Justin....he got tricked, again!  Instead of finding Reese's Puffs in the cereal box...he found corn flakes!  But he did find the corn flakes box with the Reeses inside and got to enjoy Reese's Puffs afterall.  Erik put live goldfish in his bathtub water and "silly stringed" Justin and Ashley as they were waking up.  Justin put salt in Dennis' punch and told several untruths throughout the day and said "April Fools".  But he does that a lot anyway and everyday... he likes to tease.

We weren't sure when to have our Easter Egg hunt...really!  It snowed on Thursday and left the ground with snow patches here and there and also quite muddy.  We ended up having it in between conference sessions today (Saturday).  Oh, so much fun!  Dennis and I hid 165 filled plastic eggs.  Most were filled with treats, but quite a few were filled with money!  Teenagers and Young Adults love money...so why not?!  They each had their own golden egg to find, too.  When counting up the eggs that were found, to see how many were still out there...all the treats were dumped into a family bowl, but the money that they found they got to keep & whatever was in their golden egg, too!  Tim and Brooke came out to "hunt", too.  They brought us lunch and more Easter treats.  There was one addition to our Easter tradition...the Silver Egg!  Anyone could hunt the silver egg....it was designated to be the grand daddy of all eggs!  It was hidden extra well....And oh, what a surprise it contained!  Erik found it...inside was a 100 dollar bill... with a note attached, saying...just kidding...but you do get a free pass from Saturday's jobs when you choose and also that I would make your favorite meal when you choose.  Since he doesn't fully do his jobs anyway and can't eat what he would really like too, yet...it's a good thing he can use his "coupons" in the next few months when it would really be "worth it".

We colored eggs yesterday, had some more R and R, played Settler's of Catan and have been watching movies and just enjoying Spring Break.

Erik is still recovering.  The skin on his neck looks so much better.  The hair that he has lost in the back along the edges of his neckline...now you can see a little stubble...it's growing back already!  He had IV infusion on Tuesday and Thursday, which gives his body the boost it needs.  He tried having some of the olives off of our lunch pizza today and was able to eat them.  But nothing else.  Also, his salt/soda water that he gargles with.... he actually can't taste it.....his taste buds are gone.  However, they will come back....sometime.   Thank heavens for protein powder and ensure and carnation drink....that's what his body is surviving on.  His total weight loss is 20 pounds.  He'll gain it back, though...he's anxious to eat "real" food again.  We appreciate all the prayers on his behalf and on our family's behalf.  This is quite a crazy time in our lives right now....but we are all going to make it.  Especially Erik...he's such a strong guy!

The last couple of days...I've helped create a blog for my family...the Polatis family to all post "what's up".  There's a lot of us...over 60 now! Wowwy!  After quite a few phone calls back and forth with my mom and what she would like...she helped choose the title "A Nest that's Blessed"...so much fun!  There are about 30 something grandchildren that are either finishing up med schools here and there and some are on missions or are going on missions, having babies...etc, etc.  It's neat to be able to keep in touch with everyone!  Love, love, love it!

Oh, and aren't the conference talks so wonderful so far?  Wow...we just love Conference Weekend.  And looking forward to listening to more tomorrow...Sunday.
