sunblock, snow, and speed dial

While mom(my mom, Colleen) and I were cheering on the runners at the track meet in sunny St. George on Saturday....Dennis was cheering on the 10/11 year olds at a soccer game in the snowy Cedar City weather...HA...it's supposed to be spring!  St. George is having spring....HA...what's with Cedar?  It's a good thing we like it here and we will really like it here, comparing us to St. George in 3 months when the mercury is topping over 100 degrees there everyday, while we comfortably enjoy the low 90's....oh, I can't wait for summer and warmer weather.  Mom and I did get a sunburn...ouch!
Ashley got pinked ...as well as a medal and a Tshirt!  She got a first in the 4 by 800 relay and a 5th in the mile and a whopping 4th in the 2 mile where she state qualified her time!  Hooray!  And their Sprint Medley relay took 3rd.  Ash ran the 800 in it.  Go Cedar Lady Reds!  And back at the Ranch....in the snow...actually there was only an inch or so and it melted off by the time the game was over....Justin's team tied!  The score was 2-2!  Way to go!  Justin said his toes were freezing!  (This picture is actually from last fall.)

So, yes....I have Cedar High on speed dial....just punch in #10 and I've got the Secretary at Cedar High to excuse Erik when needed.  He actually went one full day since I last posted...Monday...yesterday, he made it through the whole day!  Somewhat exhausted, but he made it!  Although he is home now...as I type...so again...speed dial #10 to excuse Erik from 2 classes for today.  Rest and more rest helps Erik get stronger and heal faster.  He still isn't able to eat solid food...so protein powder is a must in his whole milk and carnation breakfast powder shake.(none of this 2% stuff, he needs all the calories and fat that whole milk offers!) And no ice cream yet...cold things still bother him.   And I said..."yet"...because the time will come when all his mouth sores will diminish and he can handle the creamy frozen stuff.  He has a stash of ice cream treats in the back of the freezer just waiting for that glorious day!  He also has a list on the fridge of all the foods he is looking forward to eating again...winger's wings, oreos, cheezits, brick oven and in and out...just to name a few.  His hydration infusions really help him, too....one today and one on Thursday.  The skin on his neck is looking much better, too.  He's healing!  It's taking time...but it's happening.  And what's really exciting is not having to go into radiation every day.  Very nice!

Dennis and I were on the Easter Program on Sunday giving talks....whew...glad that's over.  The program was beautiful...the creative touches of flutes and violins added to the inspiring messages from the choir's music and our messages from our talks.  Easter time is amazing.  We are reminded that we have been given the greatest gift of all....a savior, a friend, an example.  One who is resurrected...and we all can be resurrected.  I am glad I have the knowledge I do of the restored gospel...what a blessing!
