"What classes do we want to take next school year?" It's SEOP week (parent teacher conferences... is what it was called in my day) The kids are all getting good grades...hard work pays off! Ashley has chosen some fun classes as well as continuing with some AP classes and Erik, the same. Justin gets to go to Middle School next year...wow...my youngest will be in 6th grade! Ikes! I'm getting old. He wants to play in the band...percussion (aka...DRUMS!)
What's happening with Erik: He's surviving his radiation treatments....Today (Wednesday) marks #16 out 31....Hooray! He's at the halfway point! He's enjoying the exciting flavors strawberry, chocolate and vanilla of carnation breakfast drink and Ensure. Power packed with vitamins and protein so he can stay healthy through all this. He has sores throughout his mouth and down his throat, but does his best to use his meds and mouthwashes to alleviate some of the discomfort. He continues to go to school and stay up on his grades. Then after school he settles down onto the family room couch for some TV and a power nap.
What we are playing: Solitaire, Yahtzee and Family Board games and cards! Ashley and Erik play the piano for church and for fun...they enjoy getting piano songs off the internet and filling our home with music. Justin is preparing for Music Festival...in 10 days! Justin also plays with the 5th grade orchestra, playing the violin. Mom is playing Taxi and zoo keeper! Ha ha...it feels like it sometimes with all our pets that need daily care...LOL.
Where we are serving: Dennis is the Ward Mission Leader and I (JoLene) serve in the YW's as the Laurel Advisor, teaching lessons on Sundays. I miss RS and the sisters in there...but I am adjusting. The Laurels are pretty neat gals...all 18 of them!
What we are reading: JoLene and Dennis are Loving the audio books by Betsy Brannon Green...way fun! Erik is reading "The Series of Unfortunate Events" books, Justin is reading "The Sea of Monsters" (Lightening Thief sequel) and Ashley decided the book she was reading was too depressing....so she's finding a new read! She reads all the magazines and newspapers and anything else she can get her hands on.
Words to live by: "Some people say motivation doesn't last long. Well neither does a shower. That's why we need to apply it daily." (From Chris' missionary letter)
I am so glad you started a blog. I love it and all the pics of the kids. We are also so happy that Erik is doing well with his treatments. He is always in our prayers. What a tough guy. I love how many fun things you guys do and how you are always so on top of everything. You are amazing Jolene. We love you!
