Tranfers, Butterfly Bandages and Miracle Mouthwash

It's nice to hear from our missionary.  Chris is serving the people of  Texas in the San Antonio area.  He was recently transferred to a new area called Wells Branch.  It is near Austin and Roundrock.  He is doing well and loves his new companion, Elder Law.

Tim and Brooke shared a fun game with us the other night called "Settlers of Canan"  Awesome game!  It's kinda like Risk, in a way.  We had so much fun learning and playing this new game.  Justin ended up winning the whole thing and was so excited that as he jumped up and down, his hand hit a corner of the chandelier and found himself bleeding!  Dennis put a few butterfly bandages on it and it should heal just fine.  Ha ha...  Justin mentioned how he would love to borrow their game and I told him that maybe he would like that as a birthday gift from mom & dad for his upcoming April birthday.

Dennis and Tim continue to work on the Kanab job.  The weather has not been cooperating with the outside excavating they would like to accomplish...but it will happen.  The weather will turn nice one of these days...just like it did last week.  I worked out in the yard a couple of those really nice warm sunny days...it was awesome!

Ashley is training for spring track, feeling good and ready to PR in her events.  She ran at two indoor track meets in January and did well for pre-season stuff.  She trains with both the distance runners and the sprinters.

Erik is wishing that he could run track...so...so bad.  But his time will come and the other runners will have to watch out!  His radiation treatments continue to go well.  He has completed 10 out the 31 treatments on the schedule.  He is starting to experience more dry mouth, a few mouth sores and a continual sore throat.  But with awesome mouthwashes (miracle mouthwash) and things to help with dry mouth, he's hanging tough.  Brother Cole is the radiation therapist...he's just awesome.  The other staff members are really great, too.  Dr. Donaldson is Erik's radiation oncologist.  He comes up from St. George on Tuesdays and meets with Erik and checks his throat and mouth to make sure all is well.  Erik is usually able to have his 15 minute treatments after school except on Tuesdays.  So he doesn't miss much school.  He's doing well and living life as close to normal as possible.  Even though this is tough thing for Erik to go through and for the family, too...we continue to see lots of blessings and good things.

Justin is loving soccer!  His first game is this coming Saturday...down in St. George of course!  It's too cold up here in Cedar....brrrrr.  And there's still snow on some of the fields...ha!  The team has been practicing indoors for the most part.  Justin is busy busy busy working on his Patriot Award for school (memorizing states, capitols, presidents, Gettysburg Address, etc etc) and busy getting ready for Piano Festival. Fun Stuff!

Brooke is taking the first part of her CPA exam this Friday!  We know she will do well and wish her the best!  She's been a studying like crazy lately. Exciting, exciting....

  1. I kept going back to older posts to see what kind of cancer Erik had. But I ran out of posts to read. What kind of cancer was it?
