Blink of an eye

This surgery went by like a blink of an eye.... 2 1/2 hours compared to the 13 1/2 hour one almost a month ago.  Wow.... so nice.

Erik is in recovery.... haven't been able to see him yet.  Everything went well.  Dr. Bentz is feeling pretty good about things.  1 cm of bone was removed and small gap just waiting until the pathology reports are known to know if the gap gets to be filled (where template is).... and we move on to recovery and therapy.  Yay!  Incision is just in his mouth and not his neck.  And his neck is looking good and the infection has almost quit draining and is healing.  Dennis is a great home health nurse.  He has been removing gauze and repacking it twice a day since we returned from Huntsman the last time.  The home health nurses come every other day to check on things.... repack his infection site and re-dress his leg wound.  His leg wound is getting better.  It takes a while.  Erik has ditched the walker and gets around pretty good on his own.  Slow and steady is the pace.... slow and steady wins the race.  He is careful to take it easy and listen to his body and limit his activity.  Erik's hospital stay may be limited to this afternoon.  We might get to go home today.  Just seeing how he fairs out... but definitely tomorrow!  Yay!  We feel everyone's prayers.  It seems like we are just lifted and floating along.  Just rolling with the punches.  And I know it's because Heavenly Father and Jesus know Erik and his needs and also our families.  We are truly blessed.  :)

Erik had a nice birthday.  He loves wingers and was able to eat a few sticky fingers.... a little tiny piece at a time.  He spent the late afternoon and evening on the road to travel up here.

The family is happy happy happy.... about Alabama winning the football game last night.  Mostly because Hayden (Ashley's guy) is a true Bama fan.  He served his mission there.  The wedding plans are coming along beautifully.  Ashley found a beautiful wedding dress on Saturday that she loves... and she looks stunning in.  It seems that when you get the dates scheduled with the temple that you want and finding the perfect wedding dress.... all else is frosting on the cake.

Ash and Hayden start the Indoor Season for track.  They run this Friday at Provo.  Good luck you two!  They are redshirting and will be representing SUU running unattached.  Ashley, I know, can't wait to start competing with the team.  She will get to compete with the team for the outdoor season come March.  Hayden will redshirt one more season... then he will be done and get his redshirting out of the way.  They are both ready to rock and roll!

A new year... a new deductible.  But it's all good because we have been blessed with work.  Precision is just plugging along and Tim is doing a great job running things so that Dennis can break away to be with Erik through all these Hospital stays.  And Brooke is covering the bases for me and doing the books.  What takes me 1 hours only takes her 15 minutes... she's pretty slick!  Is it because she's younger?  Or is it because she has her CPA?  Or is it both, but she is pushed to go fast because her little guy Camden is busy busy busy!?  He's so fun and has so much energy!
