Chris and Allie Moved!

Oh....
Chris and Allie moved up to Logan.  Bittersweet.

I started missing them within the hour they left.  They stayed here overnight after they had emptied out their place and packed their truck.  Awwwe.

But it's all good, because Chris got a great job up north.  Congrats, Chris!

Halloween was fun.  We had our annual trunk or treat activity with the ward and neighborhood.  You know....Shelly Dansie and I started that about 17 years ago... just a small group of parents and their kids in the neighborhood because all of our driveways are long and the houses aren't easy to get to.  What fun it has been to see it continue on a very large scale now.  It begins with potluck soup and bread dinner, followed by a costume parade and then trunk or treating.  It has been down at the empty lot at Bassett Corner and is so very organized.  What I enjoy about it is that it's safe and fun and you get to see everyone's grandkids now that time is flying.  My married kids love bringing their kids.  It's just great! And the kids keep going around the circle until people run out of candy!  haha

It was the Sadie's Dance this past weekend.  What fun!

We got family pics done before Chris and Allie moved, too!

It rained on us.

But what do we do when that is our only chance with so many schedules?!  I think they turned ok pretty great!

Erik has been hanging tough.  His pain med patch dose was increased and still needs a lortab to top it off.  His typical day includes lots of naps and lots of resting and TV/movies and thank heavens for nintendo and social media apps to help keep him focused on something other than feeling cruddy.  I am sooo appreciative for all of his friends that keep in contact with him.  It is good for him to connect with them daily!  Feeling yucky is typical for immunotherapy.  It's like having the flu... the body is fighting off unwanted cells. He has a dry cough, is on oxygen 3/4 time and is sometimes cold, then hot within the same hour.  I think he is amazing for handling all this as well as he does.  He was a keynote speaker at a Youth Fireside Devotional last Sunday night and did an outstanding job.  The youth were very attentive.  Erik is a good speaker.  He's a keynote speaker in a YSA Devotional this next Sunday.  I am so proud of the person he is and the way he handles everything.

I did the hardest thing in my life.... well, one of the hardest things... I accepted the invitation to give a talk at Saturday night session of stake conference and followed through.  It would have been tempting to bail at the last moment... but I didn't.  I was quite nervous because of my subject.  I was to speak on "How I am strengthened through the atonement"  So basically, share personal experiences.... Erik and his cancer and how Christ helps us get through hard times.  10 minutes goes by quickly.  There was so much I could have shared.  It helped me write down my list of tender mercies that have happened the last 7 years.  I haven't wanted to... too emotional... but it has been healing and good for me.  I didn't share my list of tender mercies.  I focused on one in particular.
