Weekend Happenings

Erik had his pleurodesis surgery on Monday.  Thursday will tell if it was successful.  Erik was feeling cruddy, of course, from the anesthesia and from the chest tube.  He was feeling much better and more of himself when I left in the evening.  Dennis was with him the whole day.  I was able to go down for a few hours and be with them last evening.
Dennis stayed with him overnight.  It is good that St. George is 40 minutes away that we are able to go back and forth and be with him.

Monday day...I was with Justin at his doctor appt and also at his school CCR appt.  Making sure he is on track to graduate... and with Honors and Diplomas of Merit.   Such a smart hard working guy!  His knee is still really hurting.  Bad bone bruises take a long time to heal.  He is done for the football season.  Dr said to come back in 3 weeks with another MRI if its still not doing well.
In the meantime... physical therapy.

This past weekend was one for the books....
GREAT WEEKEND!!!

Ash and Hayden ran the St. George Marathon.  They did great!  Both of them said they would have preferred better times.  They know themselves and their bodies.  Ash's words:
1st Marathon in the books! Not quite what I wanted, but still ok considering! 3:05. A quick recap, had some bathroom issues starting at about mile 11. My quad cramped up bad the last 8 miles. To be honest my big motivation when things weren't going my way to finish was for my family and my brother Erik that came down to watch. Thanks for being my strength! Congrats to my running partners @greenzgirl1 @runningourlives @_gossy_girl_ for great races today! @stgrc_elite @stgeorgerunningcenter #stgeorgemarathon#marathon #stgeorgerunningcenter #runningforareason

And Hayden's words:
The facial expressions explain exactly how I felt about today's marathon! It wasn't the debut that I wanted and the calves just couldn't hang today, but I was so excited to see my friends, family, and community at the finish line, and I mean so excited!!! Congrats to @runnerriley7 with the big win, Bryant Jensen, Aaron Metler, and everyone else with big wins today! Proud of my wonderful wife @ashley_hawks2 too! Short race report for those who want to know: I went through the half right on pace and was feeling amazing all the way till mile 21. I started feeling a little pain in my calves and that pain got a lot worse until my calves completely gave out and seized up. I had to stop, stretch, and walk to get through the last 3 miles where I had 5 people pass me. Check it out on @stravarun. I never bonked and felt fine in all other ways except for those darn calves. They have been hurting me since worlds and my last long run 2 weeks ago and I made a couple training mistakes, but it was a great learning experience! I think I'll stick to the trails for awhile now, but definitely need some redemption with the marathon someday haha. I learned how to suffer today too fight to take 7th place with a time of 2:23:01! Thank you sponsors @hokaoneone @nathansportsinc @stgeorgerunningcenter @guenergylabs @meltedmassage @cepcompression for all you do for me! Now I just need to learn how to walk again and hope my calves heal! Time to rest! #stgeorgemarathon #learnfrombadraces #roadrunning #backtothetrails#marathon #running @stgrc_elite

AND while the marathon was happening.... Chris and Allie had their own marathon happening in Cedar City!!!

CONGRATULATIONS!

Ezra Christian Gray
arrived at 8:45 am Saturday morning. Weighing 5lbs 15oz and 18.5 inches tall. Just under 37 weeks. Baby and mom are doing great! Labor went pretty fast. Luckily!

Chris had several job opportunities to choose from in his new field of study. Computer Programming.  He is really smart and good at it.  He definitely has a knack for it.  He chose one up near Logan... So happy that he found one he really likes.  Good company with great benefits.  I am happy that they are happy....but will MISS this them terribly when they move later in the month.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY to this little man!  Grayson is one year old this week.  All of us celebrated his birthday on Sunday.  He'll get his official party on Wednesday!  He likes his Firetruck bike Grandpa and Grandma gave him... so do Easton and Camden.  Luckily, there's a mute button for the sound.
(You're welcome)

General Conference Weekend was good.  Loved the talks and the spirit in our home that it brings.  Now, to go back and listen to the ones I missed and ponder more deeply to the ones I did hear.
