Piano Guys Concert

PIANO GUYS....oh ya!!!
We bought tickets last fall.  I wasn't sure at the time what February would be like with Erik...and were very glad that we just did it... YOLO... because they sold out quick and Erik is still with us.  Tim and Brooke were wishing they would have jumped on it to buy tickets in the fall and really wanted to go.  There was a give away from SUU Alumni and lots of us tried to be a winner... AND DENNIS was the winner!  YAY... it was two tickets and some MEET and GREET tickets! Sweet!  So Dennis gave his free tickets to Tim and Brooke and they got to go, too!

Loved the evening!  Loved the songs... it was a good thing on a not so good day. Erik wasn't feeling well and was just having a bad day... me too.  So this helped!!

The Message and upbeat tone portrayed in "The Fight Song" is my favorite for two reasons:
#1 A reminder to me to keep my head up and be "the strong mom" for my family through Erik's illness.
#2 Although his body is losing the fight to cancer, his will to be courageous is winning!  He is a fighter.  He is MY inspiration because he won't let his 7 year cancer battle overtake his spirits.  This song is about both of us.

I also love this song....

They released this song this past summer/fall and when it came out Erik mentioned how he liked it.  I thought... yep, he's right.  With God's plan...there is peace and there is comfort knowing He's in charge.  It's a tender mercy...not only for us... but for us the Jon Schmidt family as their daughter passed away from a hiking accident. Because of their beliefs in God and the Savior and the plan... it's still not easy, it's not fun and there's lots of tears...but it's gonna be OKAY. Families are Forever.

This past week... Erik has been needing oxygen more and more.  The cancer is making his liver not function as well causing some bloating and discomfort.  He is a little frustrated. We all are knowing that his "gift" of feeling good enough to go on roadtrips and other activities is coming to a close.  Dang cancer.  We have to look back and appreciate his good weeks.  He was able to enjoy Christmas and his birthday and family and friends' visits because he FELT good!  He's still doing ok...and able to care for himself.  He's resting more and his medication has been adjusted again to compromise his pain and discomfort.  We are grateful for hospice.  He has a great nurse.  Ethan is just awesome.  He's a good guy and knowledgeable, and personable... but not in your face personable... just ready to help Erik feel decent.   And the whole family feel comfortable with what's going on.  Erik was so sick in December that they thought he wouldn't make it to his birthday... but Erik rallied after they changed up his meds.  They knew he might feel a little better, but were surprised to see him rally so well and for so long.  I am thinking a big part of it was Sister Marrow's Temple name project she had. Birthday-Temple Project #erikgraychallenge

Heavenly Father needed Erik to rally and be able to help all his family search data base names get done.  In a nutshell, during Erik's service mission to the St. George Temple...he had to take some time off for chemo & radiation (again) and he kept finding family that didn't have their temple work done.  Over 400 names. Scheri knew that he had done a lot and had a dream about an idea of helping Erik get the names done.  So Erik "unshared" them with the temple and printed out lots of name cards.  With Erik and Scheri's help... they got the word out and so many people have wanted to do something for Erik... that they have helped take the names through the temple.  Now the project is winding down.  There are still names out there that people have committed to take through....but it is getting done!  It was cool to incorporate Erik's birthday into it.  Temple names getting down in New York and Alaska and Georgia as well as lots in Utah all over.  So cool!

There is a great peace in our home.  Its indescribable.  I know it's the Savior watching over us.  Life can be really hard...but it can also be very good.  It is good with God.
