Crutches and Wii games

Justin got hurt in the first quarter of Friday Night's football game.  :(
He was out for the rest of the game.  We are still awaiting results from an MRI the orthopedic doctor ordered to see if he's out for the rest of the season.  He is hurting pretty good.  Something is messed up in his knee.

Now Erik has a Netflix watching Wii game playing buddy.

Hayden... ran an awesome race in Bulgaria.  Representing the US team in Mountain Trail Running, he and his team took the gold medal!  Hayden placed a whopping 4th individually.  We are so happy for him!

Erik had another pleural effusion yesterday.Pleural Effusion Illustration
This drain was his last freebie... meaning the doctor wants to have a pleurodesis scheduled in the next week or so.  It will be a St. George hospital thing.  I think just an outpatient surgery... but not sure.
Pleurodesis: A procedure that causes the membranes around the lungs to stick together and prevents the buildup of fluid in the space between the membranes (pleural space). Pleurodesis is done in cases of severe recurrentpleural effusions (outpourings of fluid around the lungs) to prevent the reaccumulation of the fluid. During pleurodesis, an irritant is instilled inside the pleural space in order to create inflammation that tacks the two pleura together. This procedure thereby permanently obliterates the space between the pleura and prevents the reaccumulation of fluid.

He has a PET scan and dr appt next Wednesday.  Hoping to hear answers on the genomics, and other treatment options, too.  He is very tired and has minimal energy... but he says he will take that over being nauseated any day!  He does have a few jobs he can still do.... on his own time.  He helps with the marketing for Precision Development and is a TA for Utah State University in the English dept.  Modern technology is great!

I decided that since it really is September... I would take down the July decorations.
Ahhhh....I am really not looking forward to winter.  I like fall.... but not what comes after.  haha  I have noticed that my new knees are a continuous weather barometer.  They ache more right before the weather changes.  So it's kinda cool to know when a storm is brewing..... ya... but is it really that grand?  I like the app "Accuweather" just fine.  LOL
