Harry Potter... Opening Night

What FUN!  So it's opening night... they have had their midnight movie tickets for a few weeks.... they have been watching previous Harry Potters at home and with others at their homes.  Ash borrowed a broom to go play "Quidditch" at the park with friends a few days ago.... wow... what a memory.  Yes, Erik's tie is yellow with red duct tape stripes....and his face is covered with soot, real soot from our fireplace.  In one of the first books, Shaemus had a spell backfire and explode in his face and untuck his shirt!  Haha... good job, Erik!  Ashley makes a great Trelawney.  Lots of hair spray to make poofy hair!  And gotta love the glasses and head band... so cool!  And then there's Justin!  He's so awesome.  I actually let him take one of my good "tan" pillowcases and cut it up and get it dirty with fireplace soot on it too.  I am a good sport.  At first I said no way.... then gave in.  It was the perfect fabric for a house elf named Dobby.  He found a bald wig from dad's room (an old prank they played on a good friend years ago) and he found pointy rubber ears from the Halloween tubs.  On our way in to the theater, we were wishing we had grabbed a sock to pin on him.  Haha (a piece of clothing given to a house elf from their master makes the elf free forever).  I am glad Justin chose Dobby to dress up as... because one Christmas Justin wrote his Santa letter and asked Santa for a house elf.  Someone to help him do his chores.  Haha... Justin is so awesome.  Santa did send a reply letter apologizing that he wouldn't be able to get by without any of his elves.

So the story goes.... up to the theater with lots of friends at 6pm to wait in line for the midnight show.  Good thing Ash took a double deck of cards!  Justin went up later with Dennis.  About 9:30pm, they were let into the theater to be seated.  Still 2 1/2 hours to wait.... but they could go in and out of the theater and even next door to Article Circle to pass the time till the big showing.  What a party!

Lots of people dressed up and all three kiddos were in the top 15 and received prizes.  They all got a freebie movie ticket!  That was worth my cut up pillowcase, I guess.  Well, and the fact that I made a 12 year really happy and now he has great memories of opening night.  I stayed home... well, I went shopping... haha... used up a lot of my coupons, got great deals on sugary cereals, then went home and was sound asleep for hours before the group strolled in about 2:30am.

Ash and Erik woke up at the crack of dawn, as usual... got their XC running in and are now sound asleep napping on the family room couches.

What an adventure for them!  They mentioned the movie was awesome. They loved it.  They have grown up reading the magical adventures of Harry Potter and his friends as they continually seek to right all the wrongs and conquer the evil that existed at Hogwarts and the Ministry of Magic.  Ahhh... love a happy ending.  Well, somewhat... quite a few of the main characters died.... so emotional.  Ash mentioned how it was a great ending and likened it to how she felt with the Toy Story movies and how she related so well with Toy Story 3 in growing up... moving on in life to the next chapter in her life.  So ends the Harry Potter Saga.

I will be going soon to the movie.  I love the excitement of all the Harry Potters, too.  I will wait until the excitement dies down, meaning the long lines to get a decent seat in the theater.  I am sure one of the kids and/or Dennis will want to see the movie again and come with me.  Maybe Justin will let me use his free ticket for letting him cut up my good pillowcase?  haha
