Well, if you remember, JoLene had surgery last week. She is doing great!! She had total knee replacements on both her knees- at the same time. I know you're thinking Yikes! and you're right. Knee replacements aren't the easiest thing, but there are so many more disadvantages to this, mainly that she only had to go in for surgery once. So much better than doing one, facing the recovery, then doing it all again in a few weeks. I think she made the right choice!
She had her surgery on June 16th (which also happened to be her birthday!!!) down in St George, and the surgery went as expected. They had her up and walking the next day. They say that with joint replacements at the hospital, they give you your first meal or two in your room, but after that, you have to walk to the dining room to eat... just down the hall.
Mom got out of the hospital on Friday the 19th, and she is staying at Coral Desert Rehabilitation Center for about a week. We figured that this was a good option because one, insurance covers it; and two, it will help get her the best physical therapy. PT is super critical right now so that too much scar tissue doesn't form and leave her with a smaller range of motion.
It's a little hard, as are all surgeries, but we're all excited for the END RESULT! Huzzah!
Thanks for the update, Erik! Glad things are going well.
