How I'm Spending My Christmas Break

It's my turn to post something! (this is Erik)

We found out the surgery date, it will be Dec 13 up at the Huntsman! The surgery is during the end of finals week (don't worry- no conflict) and I'll be spending Christmas vacation recuperating. We've decided that, in my best interest, I'm going to take next semester off. It will be good to just recover and get better. Than I can work and really deeply think about what I want to do with my future. :) And honestly, this is way more important than school.

Wow. I can't believe we're facing this again, and honestly- I'm more annoyed than nervous or scared. I know that we'll be able to get through it! To make you smile a bit, here's some pros about this whole situation:

  • The hospitals in Salt Lake are home to some of the best specialists in the world. I'm in good hands!
  • They are going to do a bone graft of my leg to put in my jaw, so I'm going to WIN at the "2 truths and a lie" game when I say "I have some of my leg in my face!"
  • The surgery will be day after my last final. Not going to have to stress about school amidst all of this.
  • I'll be home for Christmas! (did that song just pop into anyone's head besides mine?)

Thank you everyone for your love, prayers and support already. Even with the bad news, it's been a really great week. I've ran into friends on campus a lot more, some friends that live out-of-town have made it to Cedar so I've gotten to see them, and I visited some old teachers again- I've wanted to go and visit for a while but just haven't had the time!

If you can, just give my parents a round of applause. Right now. They are AMAZING. No way I could do anything without them. Until the next update... peace out!
