Marriages bring families together.... we were excited that Ryan (Gray) and Tahna chose to be married in the Manti temple. It's only a 2 hour drive! Sweet. It was so good to see the Alaskans.
We had a wonderful family vacation to Palm Springs for Christmas. The married kiddos joined us, too. So it was very complete. We had a great time at Magic Mountain on Christmas eve and enjoyed attending a Palm Springs Ward for Christmas Sacrament Mtg Service.
Funerals also bring families together. We were saddened by the death of Dennis' brother, Mike and were able to attend a service and burial in Idaho Falls.
We have been so involved in our church callings too. With myself in the Young Women's and Dennis as the Scoutmaster.... our only choice to be able to keep up with these teens is to go to bed early and eat nutritiously so we can have the energy to do so! hahaha
Erik is busy being Student Body Vice President and all his other activities and clubs he's involved in. They have started working out for the upcoming spring track & field season. He was recently voted in for Senior Favorites as the "Busiest". It's true.... he is involved in lots and always helping out all the different clubs and organizations. He was voted in for the Sweethearts Dance's "Most Preferred" Top Ten. He's a cutie. He made a really cool cake for the auction. It was a funfetti cake made into one of the CHS teachers, Herr Corry. Herr Corry has a mindful of quotes he uses... one of them being, "oh cookie do". So thus... the cake is of Herr Corry holding a giant cookie saying "oh, cookie-do!" Erik did most of the cake himself using about 6 cake mixes and a boat load of frosting for all the pieces.
Justin loved playing football and is only somewhat excited for spring soccer. I believe he wishes it were another season of football. His piano skills are becoming more and more each week as he continues to practice and get ready for Piano Festival in March. I should add... he "reluctantly" practices. He would prefer to pick his own songs for practicing each week. But oh, well. That is life. He is getting really good at John Schmidt's, "Waterfall". He did go skiing last week with his PE class. He loves the snow and wintertime. So good for him.
Ashley... I am so glad that she is just in town. It's nice for her to move out and live the "college experience". But it's also wonderful that's she's 10 minutes away! Love it! She is a happy freshman and earned A's last semester. She loves to run and it shows. She's doing amazing things as a freshman on the college Cross Team and Track & Field Team.
Chris and Allie.... Allie is graduating this May! Yeah for her and all her hard work. She's an amazing gal. She works on campus in the Communications dept and Chris continues his schooling in the field of Psychology and also works part time. Chris is working with Dennis and Tim in the office. For Precision Dev. Oh, Chris is helping coach the CHS track team!
And that brings me to Tim! Congrats to Tim for passing his tests for a General Contractor. Wooo hoo! He and Brooke are the cutest parents. They are having fun with little Cam. He's a good little guy... so happy and so smart and ready to take on the world. Brooke works part time for Hinton Burdick. She spends a little time in the office (and that's when I get to baby sit) and also is able to do things at home via computers. What a wonderful day and age we live in. Great technology!
I have loved our winter. It has been pleasantly warm.... until now. I know we needed more snow and the warmth wouldn't last....so here we are... brrrrrr. But that's ok... like I said....we need the snow. I get to go into the office and print money. haha... not counterfeit.... just checks. It's good for me to be involved in the family business even if it's just a tiny portion. It's a very important tiny portion, though! I'm glad they trust me with it. It's been way too many years since I have done something outside the home in the business world. Of course, Brooke oversees me and can help make sure I don't make big bad mistakes! haha
Glad we are blessed with work. Dennis is almost finished with his job up in Highland. It's not the best timing to be driving the freeway system in the winter. He has been blessed with safety and also the fact that he isn't gone all the time.... just a few days here and there to check on things up there.
Erik is getting a 3rd opinion on his cancer issues. We meet with a Dr. Bentz up in SLC at his Huntsman Clinic. Hoping that he doesn't recommend another surgery like the others have mentioned. (To take out more lymph nodes to prevent cancer from possibly spreading... that is if there's any leftover cancer.) We just don't know. The scans didn't show anything, which was awesome... but they don't pick up everything... we have learned. oh, brother. It's hard to know what to do. Erik is an amazing kid with an amazing attitude. We just love him.
So that's our life in a nutshell lately..... pictures and more pictures of our winter adventures in this post and the other posts.
Super Baby!
Since I get to watch this cutie.... I often get my camera out and he continues to smile for me. He's a good sport!
So I'm sure that a person would realize that in this 10 minute photo shoot that posted here are only 1/10 of the pictures actually taken. haha I am having fun getting to babysit my grandchild... only a few hours a week, and loving it.
He scoots on his bum.... he doesn't crawl. We all think he's raring to go and will skip the crawling phase. Toys aren't his pleasure as much as they used to since he can be entertained by exploring by sight more of his surroundings if he's standing up. Watch out world! Here's come BABY!
He's so smart.... he finds each of your hands so he can then pull himself up.
